About

A finance firm that builds its own tools.

Acta is based in Hoboken, New Jersey. We were founded on one conviction: the finance function of a $5M to $100M company should run with the same data discipline and automation as a company ten times its size.

Today we are a small group of finance leaders and a platform that closes books, produces board and lender reporting, and forecasts cash every month. Inside our clients' own tenants, or on ours.

Justin Britt

Justin Britt, CPA, CMA, MBA

Founder & Partner

Justin has spent twenty years in public accounting and private-equity finance. He serves as Group CFO across a private-equity-backed portfolio of services companies and as fractional CFO to Acta's clients, and he built the platform Acta runs on: the data layer, the reporting engine, and the agents that execute the close.

He founded Acta on the view that a finance leader who can build the system is worth more than one who can only read its output.

Jim Bulger

Jim Bulger, CPA

Partner

Jim was Controller at Hungry Root, where he led accounting through the company's growth to roughly $800M. He brings operating-company finance leadership to Acta's engagements: the close, the reporting, and the controls and cadence a growing company needs before its next raise, refinancing, or sale.

In production.

Not a roadmap. This is what runs for our clients every month.

Month-end close

Agent-executed close

A sponsor-backed government contractor's books close with zero manual journal entries and zero spreadsheet touches. Executed by the system, reviewed and locked by the finance lead.

Reporting

Multi-entity reporting and covenants

Consolidated financials, lender covenant calculations, and board decks for a multi-entity technical services company, tied to the penny across every surface.

Cash

Thirteen-week cash forecast

A rolling forecast on a sweep-line revolver, rebuilt weekly from live bank, receivables, payables, and payroll data.

How we think about it.

One definition, every surface

A metric is not done when it is correct. It is done when every report, deck, and certificate that names it reads the same definition from the same place. We compute once and render many.

Deterministic where possible

Agents do the work. Rules and reconciliations decide whether it is right. Judgment is reserved for the person in the seat, and anything that moves money waits for a person.

Turnover-ready by design

What we build in your tenant is documented so it can be handed to your next finance leader without us in the room. That is the standard we hold ourselves to on our own platform, too.
